Paying at the Pump with a Debit Card

When customers pay for fuel at the pump with a debit card, most often the bank will place a temporary hold on a certain amount of funds.  Funds are held until the transaction has fully processed (up to 48 hours). Banks do this is because they do not know if you plan to pump $20 or $50 worth of gas – so they hold reserves funds within the account.

Unfortunately, Jump Start has no control over how much the bank holds or when your bank will release funds. If you find this process to be less than ideal, try selecting the method of  “credit” when fueling at the pump—which will not place a hold on unused funds. Or use the "debit" feature inside to prepay for your next fuel purchase.

Choice at the Pump

Our fuel program was designed to offer our customer’s choice at the pump.  Whether you are looking for a more economical fuel to save your family money, or a fuel that brings your vehicle more power, or even one that is considered better for the environment….Jump Start wants to provide you the choice you are seeking.

What is Super Premium Fuel?

Jump Start offers the market’s only Super Premium gasoline. Offering you a 93 Octane at a lesser price than unleaded. Super Premium fills your car up with more power for less, making it a Jump Start exclusive “Best Value”.

What is octane?

Octane is what gives your vehicle power. By definition, an octane rating (the number on each grade of fuel) is the measure of a fuel’s ability to resist “knock” during combustion by prematurely detonating within the engine. Fuel provides the energy for the explosion it takes for your engine to combust and essentially give the motor power. Each vehicle is built with different goals in mind. Selecting the right octane will provide your car with the performance it was built to utilize.

Is unleaded containing ethanol safe for small engines?

Unleaded fuel with up to 10% ethanol is the national standard for gasoline and is federally approved for use in small engines.  As with any engine, the proper protocols for maintenance and usage should be followed.

What will happen if a non-FlexFuel vehicle uses E85?

Fueling a conventional (non-Flex Fuel or not modified for E85 use) vehicle with a high ethanol grade fuel could have some immediate effects.

Such issues include:

  • The engine management system on the vehicle could be incapable of delivering a higher volume of fuel required for E85 combustion. Therefore the engine could be difficult to start.
  • The check engine warning light could come on, indicating that the engine is running too lean or the vehicle could show power loss and poor drivability.
  • Exhaust emissions could be increased because the lambda/catalyst system cannot work properly.
